China Glaze Electropop: Kinetic Candy, Sweet Hook, and Gothic Lolita

China Glaze Kinetic Candy; Sweet Hook; Gothic Lolita

Here are the other three colours from the China Glaze Electropop Spring 2012 collection that I picked up at the *scape flea market over the weekend. They are Kinetic Candy, Sweet Hook, and Gothic Lolita.

The stocks on display were all messed up when I went. As such, I initially didn’t realise that Gothic Lolita was part of the collection. I still bought it anyway because it is a shimmery purple! I was glad to later realise it is part of the Electropop collection after all. So now I have half the collection!

These colours were a little challenging to photograph accurately, so my apologies for that in advance. This does tend to be the case with pastels and purples.

I used two coats of each colour with no top coat. The flash washes out the two pastel cremes – Kinetic Candy and Sweet Hook – and they are a darker tone than they appear in the photos.

Kinetic Candy is a dusty pastel blue. It has more grey than the flash photos show. Dries shiny.

Without flash, you can see that the colour is darker.

Sweet Hook is a shiny pastel lilac. As with Kinetic Candy, it is a darker tone than what the photo with flash show.

This photo without flash shows what cameras can do with purple polish. Somehow, they often end up looking more blue. Sorry for being a photography idiot who doesn’t know how to get around this. Anyway, the colour is more like what is in the photo above, but less washed out.

Gothic Lolita is a shimmery red-toned purple. Almost magenta. The shimmer is really subtle. This one applied really smoothly..

Of the six Electropop colours I got, my favourite are Gothic Lolita and Make Some Noise (as seen in the previous post). I also have the other six colours in a third post. Have you identified your own favourites yet?

  • Ink: I think PP Sky is brighter. Kinetic Candy is a little more “dusty” looking. And, yeah, I like to coordinate colours :) And now I have the whole collection (I don't really know why!), I'll have to find time to swatch the others soon!

  • Fingers & MariJo: They are! I couldn't capture the pastel blue and lilac accurately though.

Drama & Makeup: I love it too! I think it's a unique tone of purple amonst my many purples :)

  • Katie: Same here! Been drawn to blues a lot recently. I'll have a swatch of Electric Beat tomorrow. That's a more medium blue which I really love.
