China Glaze Electropop: Make Some Noise, Sunshine Pop, and Gaga for Green

China Glaze Make Some Noise; Sunshine Pop; Gaga for Green

Yet another surprise I got the past weekend – the China Glaze Electropop Spring 2012 collection is already available in Singapore! This time, it was from a parallel importer rather than the official distributor.

I’d never bought from them before but I braved the heavy rain and shopping crowd to visit their stall at a flea market just to check these colours out. The fact that they’re the cheapest China Glaze I’ve ever bought was a big attraction!

I picked six of the colours they had left (Techno was out of stock), so I’m showing them in two posts. This first one has what I nicknamed the ‘traffic light colours’ – Make Some Noise, Sunshine Pop, and Gaga for Green!

Maybe because it has been all gloomy and rainy these weeks, these bright colours really make me happy! Here they are!

I used three coats for each with no top coat.

Make Some Noise is a dark pink that is almost red. It has a shiny jelly creme finish that self-levels. It is a tad translucent and I used three thin coats for the photos. I really love how this applied!

Sunshine Pop is a shimmery bright yellow. It went on slightly streaky initially but was decent with three coats. The shimmer makes it look a bit matte when dry but this is something top coat can easily take care of.

Gaga for Green is a bright grassy green creme. It dries shiny like Make Some Noise.

These really are the perfect colours for spring, not that I get to experience the four seasons. I also like how there are different finishes and that they are not all creme as I had initially thought.

Check out another three colours in my second post and the other six in my third post! Also, you may also want to check out swatches of a few colours at Inky Polisholicious. They were the ones who alerted me to the availability of this collection!

Hi Susan (: May I know what camera model are you using now for the photos? And also, do you use flash? Do you have a lightbox where you take photos in? Thanks (:

  • Hi Anon! I am using Canon S95. It's kinda between a point-and-shoot camera and a DSLR. The quality is better than my previous Casio point-and-shoot. You can tell from my earlier posts. I use flash unless otherwise stated. I usually swatch at night so the room light (white) would be on as well. I don't have a lightbox. I'm clueless about photography, so it's really trial-and-error. I take dozens of shots each time, then choose the better ones. Hope this helps!

  • MariJo: The whole collex looks good, actually. It looks like they are easily dupe-able but maybe not quite.

Hi Susan (: Thanks for answering the question on the camera! So, your room lighting would be those with ceiling lights right? And then you use flash function. Very nice pictures! It's almost like you took it in a light box!

  • H: You're welcome!

Anon: Yes, ceiling lights. I usually take the photos against something. It's either the pink “backdrop” made using bookends, which you can see in the bottle pics, or against a white wall. I'm sure that helps with the lighting in some way. And thank you for the sweet words! :)
