Nails Inc Gossip Girl Duo – Lily and Blair
Last night, Lauretta from A Lacquered Affair mentioned to me that she follows Gossip Girl. Naturally, I asked if she’s tried the Gossip Girl duos from Nails Inc. Since she has not, I thought it would be timely to share these swatches now. I’d actually swatched these a couple of months ago but didn’t get around to posting them.
There are actually three sets in the collection. As they are quite pricey, I only bought the Lily and Blair sets, and gave the Serena set a miss. Each duo comes with a dark creme base and a flakie top coat in a clear base.
Lily is a blackened maroon creme base but looks almost black. Blair is a dark teal creme base. I had mixed experiences with Nails Inc polish previously but both these cremes applied like butter! They also dried very smooth and shiny, which actually made it challenging to photograph them. I used two coats of each, with no top coat.
A closer look at Lily.
And here’s Blair.I then applied two coats of each flakie over the respective creme base. They dried smooth and shiny too, and I did not add a top coat.
Lily is paired with High Society, which has orange, yellow, and green flakes. The colours shift as the fingers move. This flakie is similar to many others, such as Nubar 2010.
Blair is paired with Privileged, with blue and green flakes, that also shift colours as the light catches them differently.
A closer look at each combination.
I also took some photos in the shade and you can see how the polish looks so shiny even when there was no direct light reflecting off the nails.
The third set, Serena, which I did not get, comes with a black creme and electric blue flakes.
I know there have been a lot more flakies available in the past few months, and these are not unique. Still, the formula is very good on all four colours. In particular, I really am very impressed with how well the cremes apply. They have restored my confidence in Nails Inc, especially after my frustration with a couple of their other colours.
