Butterfly Wing Nail Art

Buttterfly Wing Mani

I was just chatting with a friend about something else when my random mind mentioned that I once did a butterfly wing nail art.

So I went searching through my blog and computer and realised I did not take proper photos of it, much less blog about it! The only photos I did take were with my iPhone. Decided to still do a quick post with one of them as a record!

I did a simple gradient for the base with two Estessimo TINS duochrome shades – Viola Grace (the purple) and Water (the blue). They are sheer, soft, and shimmery, and have subtle colour shifts, which I thought were perfect to create that butterfly wing appearance!

I used a Nubar nail art polish to draw the black lines. It was my first attempt at drawing. While there is a lot of room for improvement, I was still happy that it turned out quite nicely! I’ll probably try with a nail art brush the next time.

As for the white dots, I just placed random dots of different sizes using a dotting tool.

On a side note, I remember showing this to friends when I met them for dinner and a play. I suspect the “exhaustion” after painting this and the rush to go out were why I did not take proper photos!

I wish I remembered which blog I learnt this from though! She did an awesome job with them!

  • Very beautiful! I love the subtle colour shift; you really captured the iridescence of a butterfly's wing on your nail!
