Rescue Beauty Lounge Fan Collection

RBL Fan Collection

When I first saw photos of Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Fan Collection, I knew I had to get them all. I love that they are greens and blues, two polish colours I’ve been gravitating towards a lot.

I wore all four colours – Aqua Lily, Cuprum, Halcyon and IKB:2012 – in a skittles mani, and absolutely loved how they looked together!

Before I had a chance to write this post, I learnt that Aqua Lily and IKB:2012 have already sold out. I hope those of you who wanted these two colours managed to get them!

Interestingly though, my two favourite colours are Cuprum and Halcyon rather than the more popular Aqua Lily and IKB:2012. I love them all, just that I love the former two a tiny bit more!

Anyway, on to the swatches! I did three coats of each so that there’s better coverage for the photos. I also wore a top coat (Cult Nails Wicked Fast) over them. This was also one of the rare times I did my nails in the day and could still take some photos in indoor natural light.

First, we have Aqua Lily, a turquoise, aqua green creme with fine pink shimmer. Beautiful colour combination! I can totally understand why this was the first to sell out. I’m not too crazy about the formula though. It was on a thick side and a little tricky to get even. That’s probably due to how pigmented it is. It is not terrible to work with; just needs a little more care.

You can see how the shimmer in the bottle still shows up strongly without flash. The bright daylight of tropical Singapore caused the colours to look washed out but I’m kinda loving that shade of blue AL seems to take in this photo! But it really is more of the turquoise as seen in the photo with flash though.

Next, we have Cuprum. This is a beautiful metallic blue with shimmer that appears either pinkish or orangey depending on how it catches the light. The metallic finish drove my camera crazy though, and I was not able to capture the shimmer.

I had ordered this collection in a combined order with a few other girls. I was the only one who wanted Cuprum. I understand that the other girls were concerned about brush strokes and were probably not too keen on the finish. Still, I think this is such a beauty! It’s full of shine. And the brush strokes weren’t really serious. As mentioned, this ties with Halcyon for my favourite shade of this collection!

The shimmer isn’t obvious in the photos but they are definitely visible IRL.

I thought I would prefer Aqua Lily over Halcyon, but the muted khaki green of the latter somehow drew me in more. And I love the pink shimmer in it! Unusual mix of colours! It adds a touch of romanticism to an otherwise more “manly” shade.

Last, but definitely not least, IKB:2012. This is such a rich, pigmented blue with a tinge of purple! It actually dries with a rubbery surface. Reminds me of the polish from Illamasqua’s Theatre of the Nameless collection. With top coat, it takes on the squishy jelly look.

This was a little tricky to apply too. The first coat went on somewhat uneven. It was fine with the second coat though, and self-levelled.

I decided to complete my mani with Layla Ocean Rush, a light blue holographic polish. The holo effect on this was amazing!

I know some people had issues with the application and wear. I thought the application was reasonable. I used my go-to base coat from Illamasqua on one thumb and Nfu Oh Aqua Base on the other thumb. I wore this mani for two full days. Interestingly, it was the thumb with the Aqua Base that had more tipwear than the other one. In fact, a large chunk of it lifted at the end of the second day. Guess it doesn’t play too well with my nails.

So did you get the RBL Fan Collection? Which is your favourite colour?
