Ozotic Duochrome 745 and 751

I haven’t written a proper post for a while. Been keeping busy.
Now that I’ve registered Star Trinkets as a business in Singapore, I want a proper online shopfront. After shopping around, I’ve decided that my best option now is still to build my own. I’m a noob at building an e-commerce site but I’ve had lots of advice and guidance from very experienced and helpful people. There’s a steep learning curve there and a lot to be done, but I think there’s a good chance I can do it.
In addition, the sudden sale of the to-be-discontinued Ozotic 500 series has also kept me busy, collating requests from ladies in Singapore (no men yet), ordering stocks, and then packing and mailing off the orders when they arrive.
Speaking of Ozotic, today’s post is on two of their duochromes, the 700 series. Recently, the ladies at piCture pOlish posted photos of the duochromes swatched over black and white. Many of them look really different over different base colours. I decided to try the two duochromes I have – 745 and 751 – to see how they’ll look over different colours.
I picked four different cremes as base colours:
- White: OPI Alpine Snow
- Black: A-England Camelot (one-coat black!)
- Red: China Glaze Hey Sailor!
- Blue: M31 from Michelle, a Singapore brand sold at Beadstreet (Orchard Cineleisure level 2)
I painted white on the index finger of both my left and right hands. I did the same for the other colours. This means the colours are a mirror image if I hold both hands side-by-side.
I then painted two coats of Ozotic 751 over all my nails, including the thumb, on the left hand. On my right hand, I painted two coats of Ozotic 745. I’ll show you the photos of 751 first.
751 is a blue-silver duochrome. Very cool tones and a somewhat frosty, metallic finish. Some brushstrokes are visible, so take a bit of care when applying it.
I’ll say the silver in 751 is very dominant and thus there does not seem to be significant difference over different base colours. Over white, it does look more baby blue, looking softer than 751 over just base coat (on the thumb). Over black, red and blue, it just looks like a shimmery silver topper.
Now, 745 is quite a different story. I’ve posted a swatch of it before. In the photos, you can also see what two coats over base coat looks like.
Ozotic 745 is a pink-gold duochrome. Over different base colours, different aspects of the duochrome get highlighted.
Over blue, 745 takes on a slightly purplish tinge. Over red, the gold gets emphasised. Over black, it takes on a greenish gold hue. Over white, it’s a soft, pastel pink.
With 751, it is not hard to tell that it’s the same polish layered over different base colours. With 745, it looks like different lacquers altogether.
I think my favourite is Ozotic 745 over red.
So, do you have any Ozotic duochrome shades? If you do, what base colours have you tried them with? Any combos you really like and wish to recommend?
You can purchase Ozotic 745 and Ozotic 751 on Star Trinkets.

I agree with Nailderella! I love the 751 over white. 745 looks great over all the colors. I love the glow it has.

Yes, I like the soft blue-white effect too

745 does seem quite the chameleon.
