Rescue Beauty Lounge Moxie and China Glaze White Cap

Today’s post compares Rescue Beauty Lounge Moxie with China Glaze White Cap, both white lacquers with gold sparkly bits.

When I first read descriptions of RBL Moxie, I thought it sounded like China Glaze White Cap. Upon checking swatches, it is clear they were rather different. Still, I decided to swatch them together to compare.

I applied two coats of both shades, with no top coat.

As you can see, the finish is very different although the colours are similar. Both are pretty sheer. Might be interesting to layer them over other colours. You could also try layering over a white creme to get a more opaque finish.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Moxie has a pearly finish, although the gold shimmer in it does give it some texture. Naturally, brushstrokes are hard to avoid on such finishes. I used to love such finishes. I don’t mind them too much now but the colour must be worth it. I’ll say I’m fine with it where Moxie is concerned, as it looks like real pearls!

China Glaze White Cap has none of the pearl-like effect of Moxie. The gold sparkle in it is larger and coarser. It is the glass-fleck effect that China Glaze does very well.

I’ve seen a lot of photos of White Cap layered over other shades. Since it is so sheer, it is probably best used for that. I can also see it used in a funkier version of the classic French manicure, such that the white nail tips are shot through with gold instead of just being a flat white.

Now, these two shades are in no way dupes for one another. Both are pretty in their own way, although I have to say I prefer White Cap as I am a fan of the glass-fleck finish!
