Funky Nails Daring Diva

One of the sweetest and most patient people I know from the nail polish community is Minnie from Funky Nails. She is such a sincere person and I am so honoured we are friends.
Every so often, Minnie would blog on a franken polish she whipped up, and those were gorgeous! Then, earlier this year, Minnie shared with me that she’s decided to start her own line of nail polish for sale. I was (and still am) so happy and excited for her!
Minnie currently has nine shades available in her store. As I’m trying to control my purchase of nail polish at the moment, I restricted myself to two – Daring and Diva from her Every Woman collection. I fully intend to expand my collection of her creations.
Now to the polish. Funky Nails Daring is a deep green polish with sparkly bright green shimmer. The base is more of a forest green although the shimmer makes me think of emeralds.
To be totally honest, the polish is a tad on the thick side, or maybe it was the brush. I did encounter some dragging on the first coat. Because of this, even with a second coat, it looked kind of uneven. I added a third coat to even it all out properly. Minnie has said she will be looking into a better brush as she believes that is the main problem for the application issues.
So, here are three coats of Daring (with Diva on the ring finger) on my right hand. I had top coat on in the photos, as I did this mani before I went out.
I really love the shimmer in this. In fact, when I wore this mani on the day I met A from Shoppe Eclecticco and L from A Lacquered Affair, the sparkle piqued their interest so much that both decided to get it for themselves!
On my left hand, I had on Diva, with Daring on the ring finger.
Diva is a very vampy, near-black purple, with subtle purple shimmer. The shimmer doesn’t ‘pop’ as much as Daring, but that just adds to its dark, mysterious look.
Diva felt quite a bit thicker and tackier than Daring. I also needed three coats to even things out as there was some dragging. Again, I’ve informed Minnie about this. She says she has reformulated this to a thinner consistency.
The photos show three coats of Diva with top coat (Daring on the ring finger).
A different angle to show the shimmer.
I love that Minnie started with a collection of five shimmers. Many indie brands just keep throwing out glitter bombs and it’s getting repetitive. Shimmer polish is a lot more wearable on a day-to-day basis, yet is still interesting because of the sparkle.
If you have yet to check out Funky Nails, do check out the store. She ships internationally from the US.

Me too! I thought I would love the purple more, but I love Daring that little bit more because of its depth!
