piCture pOlish Amethyst by Star Trinkets
I’m very, very excited about this post! Firstly, it’s my first post since I migrated The Subtle Shimmer over to self-hosted WordPress. I hope you like the new look as much as I do. You should be able to click on the images to view them in their full size. I’ve also added a gallery view of the photos at the end of the post, so you can just look through them like with a photo album.
Today, 30 July, is piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2012! Strictly speaking, I’m not one of the bloggers participating officially in the Blog Fest as I’m a piCture pOlish Network Member (i.e. we are business associates). However, I’m not going to sit it out as I can’t wait to share with you Amethyst, my Collaboration Shade with piCture pOlish!
A few months ago, the piCture pOlish girls approached me about doing a Collaboration Shade. They had plans to put together a collection with their Network Members and some bloggers. I was asked for ideas on a polish shade I would like to have. My mind raced through all the different types of polish and what I already had in my stash. It didn’t take me long to get that lightbulb-moment realisation that my favourite piCture pOlish shade was Denim and that I’d always wondered why they didn’t make the same kind of finish in other colours.
I basically told the piCture pOlish girls that Denim needed a sibling. I gave some possible details that popped into my mind at that moment. Naturally, purple featured prominently. The girls took those ideas to their lab, and before I knew it, they told me the shade was ready!
The next thing I had to do was name it. A sparkling purple polish? It had to be Amethyst, my birthstone! So, not only do I now have my own personalised purple polish, I can wear it like my birthstone!
Without further ado, here it is, starting with this bottle shot that’s also used on my Star Trinkets shop. As this is meant as a collaboration with piCture pOlish’s Network Members, it is labelled as by Star Trinkets rather than The Subtle Shimmer.
I’ve mentioned quite a few times that my camera makes purple look blue. As such, all the photos have been colour-adjusted so that the polish in the photos look closer to the actual shade. Do pardon the reddish hue that has resulted. All the photos are also with flash as the colour was even more off when I don’t use flash.
It’s rather ironic that the quip for Amethyst is “guards against intoxication” because I’m all giddy about it!
piCture pOlish Amethyst is basically the same as Denim in formula. It has a creamy, pigmented purple base, with sparkly blue shimmer and silvery flakes. I’ve always found this an unusual formula for it produces this unique textured finish.
Here’s a closer look of Amethyst in the bottle.
I applied two coats and did not use top coat in these first few photos.
If you’ve used Denim before, you would know that the thickish formula means the first coat can be rather uneven. Amethyst was like this too, but the second coat pretty much levelled things out.
Now for some photo spam!
In the following photos, I’d added a layer of top coat, which brought out the shimmer better.
If you would like to purchase piCture pOlish Amethyst by Star Trinkets, it is available exclusively on Star Trinkets (in Singapore) for S$16.50 (~US$13.20; the Singapore Dollar is rather strong against the USD now). I currently offer free international shipping for orders above S$80. You can also purchase it from piCture pOlish.
The other Collaboration Shades are:
- Attitude by Overall Beauty (exclusive to Overall Beauty and piCture pOlish)
- Demeter by Harlow & Co (exclusive to Harlow & Co and piCture pOlish)
- Pshiiit by Pshiiit Boutique (exclusive to Pshiiit Boutique and piCture pOlish)
- White Wedding by Llarowe (exclusive to Llarowe and piCture pOlish)
- Kryptonite by More Nail Polish (Blogger Collaboration)
- Mirage by Sara Hassan’s Blog (Blogger Collaboration)
At the time of writing this post, I’ve not seen the shades by the other Network Members. I’m very curious and excited about them too! I already have Kryptonite and Mirage in stock though and I’ll be posting swatches of them very soon!
Look out for the swatches of Amethyst, the other Collaboration Shades, some new piCture pOlish shades, as well as the other piCture pOlish shades on the blogs participating in this year’s Blog Fest!
