Two Requested Comparisons

A-England Princess Tears and Cult Nails Fashion Addict

Quite a while ago, someone asked if I could do a comparison between A-England Princess Tears and Color Club Fashion Addict. I apologise that I never got round to doing that. More recently, I was asked for a comparison of Cult Nails Manipulative and Princess.

A couple of day ago, I decided to take a break and do some swatching. I figured I might as well start with these two comparison requests.

And so, I present to you a Fashion Addict shedding Princess Tears, and a Manipulative Princess! Couldn’t resist the word play!

A-England Princess Tears and Color Club Fashion Addict are both mauve shades with linear holographic effect.

I used two coats of each over Cult Nails Get It On base coat with no top coat. I didn’t have application issues as there might be with some types of holo polish.

The holo effect is stronger with Color Club Fashion Addict and more subtle with A-England Princess Tears. Princess Tears seems to have a slight mauve-grey duochrome too.

This first photo was taken indoors in natural light.

And a couple of photos with flash.

Our next pair for comparison are Cult Nails Manipulative from the Divas and Drama collection, and Princess from the Fairy Tale collection.

Again, these were swatched over base coat with no top coat. Two coats were enough for an opaque coverage.

Manipulative is sort of an aqua colour with silver shimmer. The base colour has more green in it that Princess. Princess is a dusty light blue with copper shimmer. Generally speaking, Manipulative is brighter with Princess is a more muted colour. Very different.

The first two photos were taken in natural light indoors.

These next photos were with flash, which makes them look a tad washed out.

I hope these comparisons would be useful for some of you. Feel free to let me know in the comments (of this and other posts) if there’s a comparison you would like to see. Where possible, I’ll do some quick swatches of them.

  • I did think they look similar when I first got Princess Tears, but PT has this gray flash to it, which makes it not as pink as Fashion Addict. Still, very close shades.

  • Even though Princess Tears and Fashion Addict look so similar, I feel like Princess Tears has just a bit more of a complex look going on for it! Maybe the less holographic look allows you to see more of the complex shimmer?

Thank you for the comparison between Princess and Manipulative :D They are so different that I am contemplating the purchase of both of them now!
