Flakie Friday: UP Colors Beijo Na Boca
For this week’s Flakie Friday post, I have UP Colors Beijo Na Boca.
UP Colors is a Brazilian brand and I bought this quite a while ago from Llarowe. A word of warning though. The bottle has a very weak neck. If you ever bought from Llarowe, you would know they wrap each bottle in layers and layers of bubble wrap. Yet, one of my UP Colors bottles arrived with a broken neck. Llarowe sent a replacement, of course, but do take note if you’re thinking of mailing or transporting any for whatever reason.
Beijo Na Boca has a clear base and flakes in orange and green. As with such opalescent flakes, there is some colour shift depending on how the light catches it.
I already had on SpaRitual Energy, a blue creme, so I decided to try layering Beijo Na Boca over it. After all, I do not want to show all my clear-base flakies over just black. I was very happy that, despite the light-coloured base, the flakes in Beijo Na Boca were pigmented enough to still show up pretty nicely.
I used two coats of UP Colors Beijo Na Boca, with no top coat. The photos were all taken in sunlight.

I have a special polish for today’s Flakie Friday post! It is piCture pOlish Mallard, which was launched just 1.5 weeks ago. This is a new collaboration shade and this was created with Jen of The PolishAholic, a blog I read regularly.
piCture pOlish Mallard was named for the dark green feathers on the head of the male mallard duck. If you’re an NCIS fan like me, you will also know it fondly as Dr ‘Ducky’ Mallard, the medical examiner.
The base is a dark green that reminds me of the seaweed used in Japanese and Korean cuisines. It has a shimmer that looks greenish gold, as well as a nice scattering of orange and green flakes. Beautiful!
Application was a breeze. I applied two coats and added top coat for the photos.
I painted this at night and was hoping there would be sun the next morning for some photos in sunlight. Sadly, it rained the whole day (literally, for the rain lasted over 24 hours!) and there was no chance of that. This photo was with flash.

It’s Friday again! Hope you all had a great week and an even better weekend ahead!
For today’s Flakie Friday post, I have HITS Fox Trot. This polish has a purple base that is sort of a cross between a jelly and creme, or crelly, as some like to call it. The flakes mainly show up as orange-y red but shift towards green when the light catches it at an angle.
I had a white polish on already so I decided to layer HITS Fox Trot over it. As the purple base is a bit sheer, layering over white made the purple appear brighter than what it looked like in the bottle. I believe the purple will look darker if layered over a darker colour. If you don’t wish to use a base colour, it’s ok to wear Fox Trot on its own too, as it’ll be opaque in two to three coats. I used three thin coats because I liked how the purple intensified with each additional coat. I did not add a top coat.
Because the polish is purple, the photos included in this post were taken with my iPhone 5. The shots were taken in sunlight.
I know some people do not like having to click “Continue reading” to read the whole post. For me though, I like that function as I prefer a ‘cleaner’ main page that does not require scrolling through multiple long posts to find something that interests me. I thought I’d try out a compromise. I’ll include more info and one photo before the “Continue reading” link. You’ll only need to click on it if you wish to see more photos, including any macro shots, which I prefer to leave till the end.

Last night, Lauretta from A Lacquered Affair mentioned to me that she follows Gossip Girl. Naturally, I asked if she’s tried the Gossip Girl duos from Nails Inc. Since she has not, I thought it would be timely to share these swatches now. I’d actually swatched these a couple of months ago but didn’t get around to posting them.

Today is a special day. It’s 8 March, International Women’s Day. Today was also the last day of work for me.
I’ve resigned from my full-time job. While my official last day is tomorrow, today was the last day I needed to report. I am not moving on to a new job for now. Just going to take a break and do some freelance work until I figure out what next.
Anyway, I thought it would be apt to show you the Cult Nails Super Powers collection today, since this collection is about having the power to do special things.

With all recent attention on flakies, I decided to revisit one of my very first flakies, the ever-so-stunning Nfu Oh 51. I decided to pair it with butter LONDON Branwen’s Feather, a polish I had been trying to get for a while. I could hardly keep my eyes off my nails when I had this mani on!
